Accessories
Character additions with a purpose
More than Ornaments
Rootlings may be seen with various accessories on their designs. These additions should always be relevant and important to the story. In the Rootlings ARPG art is about storytelling, character building, and meaning. Accessories should add to this goal by playing a significant role in the character's life. Considering the "why" while making an addition to a character can help spark new ideas and strengths for the story. Only one piece of quest art is required per accessory, but there is no limit for how many you can complete for any one addition! After the required quest extras are optional.

These quests may be completed at any point during the rootling character's life including before its coronation. You may complete quest art to submit with your coronation form in order to begin the game with that accessory, or you may work through these quests with an official rootling after it has begun its journey as a lumesse guardian. If your rootling is already on the bestiary, but you want it to have had a connection to this object in its prior form, you may absolutely backtrack and show us parts of the story in the past.

- Lost Thing | this object may have been something another rootling, animal, or human lost. It may have a story of its own that might never be revealed. Why does this trinket interest your rootling? What about it caught its eye? Would it try to hunt down the original owner and return it, or would it consider it found treasure?
- Gift | this is something that was given to your rootling freely. It probably has a feeling of friendliness associated with it. Was this a thoughtful gift? Why would it have been given to your rootling? Is it cherished, or despised?
- Burden | the rootling bears a heavy weight. This could be physically or psychologically. The rootling might be holding on to something out of guilt, or even out of obligation. This accessory seems to be holding your rootling back in some way. Why does the character continue to carry it?
- Responsibility | there is something about this object that makes your rootling feel important. A special job or task that only this rootling can get done. Or perhaps this rootling has been asked to carry this accessory, and it doesn't quite want to, but it does because it is an important thing to do. What kinds of objects could enter your rootling's story that may require responsibility?
- Sentimental | your rootling has been holding on to this item for a long time. It is probably linked to an important point in its life. Maybe this was left with the rootling from its late friend, or perhaps it is one of the first crafts the character has made. Maybe this is something the rootling found on a particularly important day, or before a very special moment. Whatever the reason, this is something your rootling can't bear to part with.
- Hand-Crafted | this is something home-made by your rootling or someone that it knows. It may have been created with an important purpose in mind. Maybe it is a key needed at a later point in the story, or a special piece of gear to help it traverse a difficult environment. Why would this have been made for your rootling? What can it help your character achieve throughout its story?
